When relocating to the Poconos from New York/ New Jersey there is a lot to consider. If you plan to commute like many people in the area, your going to need to know what that looks like.
First thing to keep in mind- the Poconos is HUGE!! When your committing to that 90-minute hall into the City the last thing you want to do is add extra drive time on the back end. Living close to the Delaware Water Gap will give you fast access to I80 East while still giving you access to country living. Remember to check the address of the home you are considering on a map and see how far it is from the Water Gap then add that time on top of your commute from PA to NYC. I always made sure to do this for my clients because it’s an easy oversight that can cost you big later when you realize the commute is too much and you just bought your dream home! Buying a home is a major commitment and while its very often life changing in the best way, if you don’t consider the big picture, you may come to regret your choice.
If you plan to commute but don’t want to drive yourself, check out Martz Trailways. With buses running from several places in the Poconos to Midtown and Downtown NYC daily, its your best bet. Below is a list of pick-up locations and current rates (subject to change, please click on the link provided to head over to Martz for the most accurate information). You can pay per ride or select from several package deals.
